Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province, is located in the east of China, the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the coastal waters. Nanjing is one of the four ancient capitals of China and one of the first batch of national historical and cultural cities. It is also an important birthplace of Chinese civilization. It has sheltered the new year of China several times in history. It is the only ancient capital among the four ancient capitals that has never been the capital of alien regimes. It has long been the political, economic and cultural center of southern China.
